The stunning original George II Bureau, which was written in English circa the mid-18th century, represents the epitome of fine craftsmanship. Featuring camphor wood and rosewood banding, a writing bureau with a perfect leather writing surface.
It features three drawers and a fall front that reveals a writing interior with pigeon holes, drawers, and a cupboard with excellent runners and green baise cushioning.
A highly decorative and beautiful bureau dating to the middle of the 18th century, this piece is stunning, practical, and sublime for a Bureau.
The timber cuts are wonderful; they simply glow in the right light. The inlay and cross-banding are a mixture of Rosewood, whereas the main body is camphor wood with a vibrant finish and stands on bracket feet. The handles, locks, and escutcheons are all original and also contain the keys.
In antique condition, there will be age—and use-related patina marks, as you would expect, all of which add to the charismatic look and feel.
