Beefeater's history can be traced back to 1862, when James Burrough, born in 1835, purchased the Chelsea distillery from Rectifier & Compounder John Taylor for £400. Initially, the distillery continued producing the liqueurs it had been makingous owners, which helped strengthen its reputation and expand its customer base.
